P4ESC Statement on Senate Finance Chairman Wyden's Principles for Lowering Drug Prices for Americans

The Partnership for Employer-Sponsored Coverage (P4ESC) issued the following statement on the release of Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden’s (D-OR) Principles for Drug Pricing Reform:

“The Partnership for Employer-Sponsored Coverage applauds Finance Chairman Wyden for including employer and commercial health plans in his drug pricing principles document released today. We appreciate Chairman Wyden’s commitment to working with the employer community to identify areas of reform that can provide employees and employers with relief from cumbersome pharmaceutical costs.

Businesses of all sizes contribute vast resources to employees and their families through the employer-sponsored health system and have a vested interest in health care quality, value, and system viability. Access to medications is an integral component of employment-based benefits offerings and recognizing that the pharmaceutical costs borne by employers and employees alike are not sustainable is important in the federal reform discussions in Congress. P4ESC welcomes the opportunity to continue working with Congress on health costs reforms that preserve and strengthen our nation’s market-based employer-sponsored health coverage system.”
