Employer Coalition Endorses Bipartisan Chronic Disease Management Act

Recently, the Partnership for Employer-Sponsored Coverage issued its endorsement of the bipartisan, bicameral Chronic Disease Management Act of 2021, S. 1424, sponsored by senior Senate Finance Committee Members Senators John Thune (R-SD) and Tom Carper (D-DE), and H.R. 3563, sponsored by senior House Ways and Means Committee Members Representatives Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Brad Wenstrup (R-OH).

The legislation builds on existing Code policy regarding coverage of chronic care services and medications for employees who are enrolled in a high deductible health plan (HDHP) coupled with a health savings account (HSA). Under the legislation, employees would have first-dollar access to additional low-cost, high value preventive services and medications to treat chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
